Both a strong visual orientation to the Georgia Strait, privacy, and long term functionality were important for clients Tricia Young and Graham Roberts.

The Graham-Roberts wanted to enhance the visual connection to the water by having as many floor to ceiling window openings on the main floor as was structurally possible.
The deck platform and outdoor living space is positioned on the home's west side to ensure this. By locating exterior living space on the west side of the home, we also take advantage of late evening and summer sun exposure. Due to the immediacy of a neighbouring home, this space is enclosed and private, providing a buffer between it and the client's home.
Although the site has a breathtaking view, the project had a limited budget. In order to work within these restraints, and still achieve client ambitions, I worked with them to organize and design an interior spatial quality that provides abundant light, indoor-outdoor visual connection, and functionality.
Its airy, open plan engages the landscape and ocean view from every living space. It also meets their current and future needs. For example, the main floor level contains everything the clients need for day-to-day living. The two bedrooms on the walk-out level are occupied by the clients' teenagers and individual bathrooms here ensure privacy as they grow up. Also located on the walk-out level is a recreation room, small gym, and sizeable storage space. As with all key living spaces, the gym and recreation room directly engage the ocean view.
